My name is Anthony Ligon and I am the new Director at Orchard Park Academy. I am excited to have this opportunity to work with students, families, and community investors in the West Park area. My vision for Orchard Park Academy is to be an educational learning institution focusing on academic excellence. To become a school of academic excellence you must have teachers, and within the past month, I have hired Highly Qualified Teachers (HQT) to provide instructional guidance to all students in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Further, academic excellence must be nurtured in the classroom, where students are challenged to a higher order of thinking, where rigor and relevance shapes the mind of the student, where students are encouraged to soar academically in reaching new plateaus of learning, and where students are excited about what the next day will bring. My focus is to bring the leadership that opens doors and provides avenues for academic excellence in every area of a child’s life.
I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. My experience as an educator includes teaching 11th and 12th grade Language Arts as well as Special Education 9th-12th grade in a Self-Contained Classroom of Emotional Behavior Disabled (EBD) students. As a Special Education Staffing Specialist and Supervisor, I managed gifted, mild to moderate and severe cases of 50-70 students in the 9th-12th grade and 250 students PK-5th grade. In this position, I oversaw the school’s entire program from Response to Intervention (RTI) to staffing. As a Special Education Supervisor managing all SPED staff for 5 schools, my focus was to ensure the educational deliverance and management of students with an IEP or an EP.
I look forward to working with families, community investors, and local agencies as Orchard Park Academy pursues academic excellence in educating our students. I welcome you to explore a school where learning happens. Come learn with us.
